Black & Red to Support the Cancer Center
The 20th Annual Black & Red will be held January 29, 2011 at the
Bushnell Theatre in Hartford, CT. Proceeds from the event will benefit
Hartford Hospital's Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center. (more)
 The Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center is one of eight recipients selected by the LIVE STRONG Community Program in their 2008 grant cycle. The grant awarded will span three years with a goal to develop a unique Survivorship Patient Navigation Program. This exciting program provides specialized care to our cancer survivors. The Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center is the only facility in New England selected as a National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program (NCCCP) to develop model programs and innovations in outreach to reduce cancer disparities and improve quality of care, survivorship and palliative care, clinical research, biospecimens, and cancer information systems. This adds to the American Cancer Society Patient Navigator Program already in place. (more)

Blue Distinction
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut has named Hartford Hospital as one of its Blue Distinction Centers for Complex and Rare Cancers(SM). There are only 84 such centers designated in the United States, and only two in Connecticut. (Read the press release)
